The first official film still of Christian Grey has hit the internet in honour of the characters birthday.

Jamie Dornan, who will play Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film, is pictured in his car and looking down the camera lens.

Jamie Dornan was cast as Christian Grey when Charlie Hunnam left production shortly before filming began.

The Facebook page for the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film posted the photo on the 18th June with the tagline ‘Happy Birthday Christian Grey #FiftyShades’.

Following the timeline of the first book on which the film is based, this will be the 27th birthday of Christian Grey.

The first book in the trilogy, released in 2011, tells the story of 21 year old student Anastasia ‘Ana’ Steele who meets tormented businessman Christian Grey, with whom she begins an intense relationship.

The book trilogy was written by E.L. James, and has been described as ‘mummy porn’ and beginning the trend in bringing erotic literature into the mainstream.

The film has been directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, and acting alongside Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey is Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother Carla, and musician Rita Ora as Christian Grey’s sister Mia.

Fifty Shades of Grey will be released on 14th February 2015.
