‘Ant-Man’ moved to ‘Batman vs. Superman’ original release date

Ant-Man, the latest film from Marvel Comics, has been moved forward for the second time to a new release date of 17th July 2015, the original release date for Warner Bros. Batman vs. Superman, which has now been pushed back until 6th May 2016.

However, Marvel has already been planning to release a currently untitled film on 6th May 2016, which will now be in direct competition with Batman vs. Superman for the No. 1 box office position.

Ant-Man, to be directed by Edgar Wright, was due to be released on 31st July 2015, but the two weeks earlier release date now allows Marvel to earn a bigger box office income at one of the busiest times for cinema in the year.

It is due to star Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Michael Douglas has recently been announced as the newest addition to the cast, due to play Hank Pym.

Ant-Man will now be released at the same time as Warner Bros. live action Peter Pan prequel, Pan, due to be directed by Joe Wright, and who have recently announced that Garrett Hedlund is set to play Captain Hook.

Batman vs. Superman, which will be directed by Zack Snyder, have also recently announced casting news, as Jesse Eisenberg is due to play villain Lex Luthor in the film.

Ant-Man will be released on 17th July 2015.

Update 19/07/14: Ant-Man will now be directed by Peyton Reed.
