The first poster for the eagerly awaited film version of Fifty Shades of Grey has appeared online.
The poster includes the tagline ‘Mr. Grey will see you now’ with a release date of Valentine’s Day 2015, and the films website.
The poster also teases with actor Jamie Dornan, playing Christian Grey, staring out at the Seattle skyline. Dornan was recently cast when Charlie Hunnam left production shortly before filming began.
The first book in the trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, was released in 2011 and tells the story of 21 year old student Anastasia ‘Ana’ Steele, who meets the successful businessman Christian Grey, a tormented character, whom she begins an intense and erotic relationship with, which is the main focus of the book.
The Fifty Shades trilogy recently overtook the Harry Potter series to become the biggest selling book series in the UK.
Written by E.L. James, the book series has been described as ‘mummy porn’ and has quickly become a firm favourite with female readers for its explicitly detailed descriptions of the characters erotic encounters. It has begun the trend in making erotic literature more mainstream.
Directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, the Fifty Shades of Grey cast includes Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother Carla, and musician Rita Ora as Christian Grey’s sister Mia. This Universal Pictures’ release is currently filming in Vancover, Canada.
The film’s producer, Micheal de Luca, last week said at the Sundance Film Festival that Fifty Shades of Grey will not be as explicit as the book is; “We’re going to give them what they expect, which is an intense and erotic love story…Obviously, the film can’t be as explicit as the book.” Fans of the book will have to wait just over a year to see what the film has in store!
Fifty Shades of Grey will have a weekend release on 14th February 2015.
